Payne's Bungalow

Major Payne steps from the smoldering aircraft and surveys his surroundings.  "My...  I thought the compass heading was suppose to read 180 or was that 018?" He reflects.  "Well never mind..."  He says to himself as a trickle of sweat trickles from his forehead.

A great Pulp aircraft is the 'Sky Pilot' Lockheed 10 Electra.   It was built to compete with the Boeing 247 and Douglas DC-2. This plane was the one that Amelia Earhart went down in.   We have found this kit at 'Big Lot' stores priced at only $5!  It blends well with 28mm figures and is easy to build.  If you find them pick up several.  One for a runway departure prop.  One to 'Crash' in a jungle or maybe in some ice field and one to paint up in Japaneese colors so that the Deep Sea diver from Chronoscope can retrieve secret codebooks.  At $5 you can afford a few.

The kit is easy to build, I would estimate about 10 minutes, but make sure the metal pins aligning the fusalage are fully seated as when the plane is snapped together it is difficult to get apart without causing damage.  The gears also retract which make this a real nice feature of the kit.  Here we have a shot of Major Payne before that ill fated flight.

"Right, One bent prop.  Nothing too bad.  Wonder how many trees we will have to cut out to fly this bird out?"

"Seems one of the motors has come loose."

"Oh, there it is, seems this has giggled off as well."

"Right, let us see the list so far."

One bent prop

Blemish drivers side window

Loose motor

Cosmetic inperfection of the right wing

Loose landing strut

"Well now what is this?  The back end seems to be a bit out of sorts."

"Perhaps I'll just tell the rental people that I loaned the plane to

                                                     Dr. Mercury"

As twilight falls, Major Payne realizes that he is completly overdressed for this occation so he quickly rummages around in the rear cargo locker for that old tropical outfit from two summers ago.  "Hope it still fits?" He reflects as he steps outside for a quick shave.

"Too bad I had to bash the door to get out."  Then he realises that the plane was just a long term rental and that insurance will pay for damages.  "Well, must look around to see what other blemishes I'll have to list for this mishap."

"Seem there is a small blemish on the window."

'What, thought this wing was longer?"
